This weekend, 3-4 August 2019, the first Coombe Weekender will kick-off in Coventry at the glorious Coombe Country Park. Bringing household acts such as Tom Grennan, Toploader and Faithless with it, the organiers have also provided space for local acts to be seen, heard and soaked up. We caught up with Blvff, who are one of the Coventry bands that will be tearing it up in the the sun.

Hey guys, we are big fans of your music so it’s great to get to speak to you about the Coombe Weekender Festival which you will be performing at. First of all how are things going with you?
Thank you, it’s always nice to hear of our musical efforts being appreciated, nice one! Things are well in the camp. We are busy making plans and head into the Coombe Weekender, off the back of a triumphant show at Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival.

Coombe weekender is now right around the corner. How does it feel to be playing on such a stacked line up as one of the acts representing the local music scene?
It’s an honour. It really is. Seeing our name mixed in amongst some of the biggest in the game, gives us sense of well being and belonging. Sharing the stage with internationally renowned musical names, in our own back yard, doesn’t happen everyday. So we’re going to embrace it all, the best we can. We literally can’t wait for the occasion and we hope it’s the first of many big festivals that we grace.

After you have smashed your set who are you most looking forward to checking out?
Libertines. Without doubt. They feature heavily within our musical influences and we are all big fans. It will be surreal to see them performing at Coombe Abbey.

Your new single ‘Cristal Ball’ will be coming out the day before the festival and we cant wait to hear it! Can you give us any hints at what we can expect?
‘Crystal Ball’, I guess is a transitional single. We are heading in to new territories. We recently introduced a new member playing keys, synths and rhythm guitar. This new sound is prevalent in our latest offering. Expect elements of psych, pop, indie and dark rock. Friday 2nd August, all shall be revealed.

So, 2019 has been a huge year for Blvff. What’s been the best moment so far?
2019 has treated us well so far. A sold out home town show most defiantly being the highlight. But we by no means, have reached our peak. There are plans a foot to see us taking the next step, in terms of our musical progression, which will see new music, single releases, tours and much more. This time next year Rodney.

Finally, after the new single and Coombe Weekender what’s next on the agenda?
So, once we’re over the high of Coombe Weekender, we have a run of dates to announce in September / October, we are back into the studio to begin work on new music in November, before releasing another new single. It will all accumulate, in to a big end of year home town shindig. All aboard.

You can still purchase tickets for the Coombe Weekender online including camping and travel passes. The festival also includes the Libertines, Tom Grennan, Faithless, Candid, Toploader and more.
